A story to tell – the beginning of StoryTiles

It all began when Marga van Oers, the founder and designer of StoryTiles, received an old box filled with blue Delft tiles from her grandmother.
Touched by the charm of these treasures, Marga decided to breathe new life into them by adding her own illustrations and a contemporary spirit.

That’s how StoryTiles was born — a Dutch brand that revives a centuries-old craft with a modern and poetic twist.
Since 2013, the tiles have been fired in artisan kilns in the Netherlands, spreading a message of emotion, creativity, and sustainability around the world.

From Dutch tradition to contemporary creation

StoryTiles preserve the soul of the Delft tile, a symbol of Dutch heritage, while embracing a modern aesthetic.
Each piece combines tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and design, creating a timeless decorative object full of meaning.

A unique artisanal craft

At StoryTiles, each tile is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, carefully made by hand in the Dutch workshop.
The creation process unfolds in several steps:

A smooth clay mixture is poured into molds to shape the tiles.
Each kiln can hold up to 800 tiles, stacked in special trays, and is fired three times at temperatures between 850 and 1250 °C.

During the first firing, the tiles are covered with a glossy glaze.
The second firing embeds the background, outlines, and colors of the design, giving rise to tiles resistant to heat, water, and frost — as sturdy as traditional ceramics, yet infinitely more poetic.
